10 Steps to Finding a Job- Welcome!

Dear job seekers:

I have been handing out (solicited and unsolicited) job advice for years. Why? Because I have it figured out. The job search today is no different than it was 20, 30, 50 (2000?) years ago in that it is still "who you know". The difference is the ways, options and methods to go about getting your resume out there and making contacts. It is much easier now though, thanks to social media and the internet to get your self out there so that people can figure out you are fantastic.

I've created 10 basic steps that I recommend you follow. There is not guarantee, but I'm pretty sure that if you actually follow each of them, things will start to happen. Remember - just because you think your grandfather, you know the one that discovered the Internet 5 years ago and spends several hours a day sending forwards back and forth to his golf buddies, could not POSSIBLY have any job contacts for you...he might pass your resume on to Bill, who passes it on to cousin John who sends it to his daughter Lisa, who is Director of Corporate Relations at X, and who is in fact looking for someone JUST LIKE YOU!

Please use the comments to let others know what worked, what didn't and any other lessons learned. I have no hidden agenda for this site except good karma. Happily employed people = a better world.

Best of luck,
Jessica
